Water Supply Is a Real Conversation in Jasper Right Now.

The City of Jasper currently has a temporary suspension on new municipal water and sewer connections because of system-capacity limitations. The city has said it is working to increase capacity and pursue additional raw-water sources, including groundwater, with the suspension expected to run through September 8, 2027.

For property owners, that doesn’t automatically mean a private well is available or permitted. Whether a well makes sense depends on the individual property — applicable requirements, septic location, public-water availability, access, and other site conditions.

Building or Buying Property in Jasper?

If you’re building a home, buying undeveloped land, or evaluating a property without an existing water source, a well has to work together with the rest of the property — the septic system, driveway and equipment access, and other planned structures. We can talk through what that looks like for your specific lot.

What to Consider

  • Site and equipment access — terrain and a practical path for our rigs to reach where a well can realistically be placed.
  • Septic location and required setbacks — wells and septic systems need to be separated by code.
  • Well placement relative to property lines, structures, and other site features.
  • Property, county, and state requirements — these vary by parcel and are worth confirming early.
  • Planned water needs for the household or property going forward.

Know Who’s Drilling Your Well

Georgia requires a state water well contractor’s license to construct a well, with limited exceptions (for example, certain landowners drilling solely for their own household or farm use). Before any rig shows up, it’s worth knowing who holds the license and whose crew and equipment will actually do the work.

Groundwater Pros is a licensed Georgia water well drilling company. Our licensed drillers, crews, rigs, and drilling equipment are part of our own operation.

What Happens When Groundwater Pros Drills Your Well?

We start by talking through your property and what you’re building, so we understand the project before any equipment arrives. From there, we check site and equipment access to confirm a practical well location, drill the well, and keep you updated as we go.

For the full process, cost factors, and what to expect, see our Water Well Drilling page.

Ready to Build? Your Well Shouldn’t Hold Up the Project.

Long drilling backlogs can delay construction and everything that depends on getting water to the property. Groundwater Pros owns and operates our drilling equipment and has three Georgia-licensed water well drillers, giving our team the capacity to keep multiple projects moving.

Current scheduling changes as projects are completed and added, so call us to check current drilling availability for your property.

Already Have a Well That Isn’t Producing Enough?

Not every low-producing well needs to be replaced. Groundwater Pros operates two hydrofracking rigs and camera-inspects the well before treatment begins — if we find a condition that means hydrofracking shouldn’t proceed, we let you know before moving forward. It isn’t right for every well, and we don’t promise a specific improvement. Learn more about Hydrofracking.

Pump Installation & Service

Once a well is in, we also handle pump installation, replacement, and service for the whole well system.

Well Water Filtration

If taste, staining, or water quality becomes a question later, we test the water and match filtration to what’s actually there.

Jasper Well Drilling Questions

Georgia requires water wells to be constructed by a licensed water well contractor, with limited exceptions provided by law (such as certain landowners drilling solely for their own household or farm use). You can verify a contractor’s license through the Georgia EPD.

It depends on the property. Setbacks, septic location, site conditions, and applicable county and state requirements all factor in, so eligibility isn’t something we can promise before looking at the specifics of your parcel.

Not automatically. The municipal connection suspension and private-well eligibility are separate questions with separate requirements — being affected by one doesn’t by itself qualify a property for the other.

Site and equipment access, septic location and setbacks, well placement, and applicable property, county, and state requirements all matter — we can talk through the specifics for your property.

Yes. Groundwater Pros is a licensed Georgia water well drilling company, and our own licensed drillers and crew perform the work using our own rigs and equipment.

We can consider hydrofracking for an existing low-yield well before assuming a new well is needed. We camera-inspect the well before treatment begins, and if we find a condition that means hydrofracking shouldn’t proceed, we let you know before moving forward — it isn’t a fit for every well, and results aren’t guaranteed.

Groundwater Pros also handles pump installation and service, so we can carry a project from drilling through a working water system rather than handing that part off to someone else.

The Georgia EPD publishes the current list of licensed water well contractors. You can check any contractor, including Groundwater Pros, before work begins.
