Hydrofracking for Existing Wells

When an Existing Well Isn’t Producing Enough

An existing well can sometimes produce less water than a property needs. Hydrofracking may help some low-producing wells by improving how water moves through existing fractures in the surrounding rock and into the well. Groundwater Pros camera-inspects each candidate well before treatment begins, and lets you know if hydrofracking isn’t the right fit. Learn more about Hydrofracking.

Infographic: How Hydrofracking Works — Open Natural Fractures, Improve Flow, Get More From Your Well. Diagram of a well casing showing the single-pack method (one inflatable packer, treats a larger section) and double-pack method (two inflatable packers, targets a specific interval), with high-pressure water opening existing water-bearing fractures in the surrounding rock. Our Approach: 1) Evaluate Your Well — review well records and measure current static water level and pumping rate. 2) Frack the Appropriate Zones — work through the eligible open-hole section using single-pack and/or double-pack methods. 3) Test Pump and Measure Results — test pump the well and record the new static level and pumping rate. 4) Additional Passes if Needed — move packers to additional depths and treat more zones when appropriate. Good to Know: not every well is a candidate, but many low-yield wells see meaningful improvement; results are measured by test pumping before and after; hydrofracking does not create water; results vary by well and geology and are not guaranteed.

Not Every Low-Producing Well Should Be Hydrofracked.

We camera-inspect the candidate well before treatment begins. That inspection helps our team understand the well’s current condition and decide whether hydrofracking is an appropriate next step — it doesn’t, by itself, predict the outcome or guarantee eligibility.

If you’re not sure whether your well needs anything more than a look, that evaluation is the place to start.

Signs Your Well May Be a Candidate for Hydrofracking

If a well doesn’t seem to keep up anymore, it’s worth having it evaluated rather than guessing. These situations can justify evaluating the existing well — the cause and appropriate solution still need to be determined.

Common Signs

  • Doesn’t keep up with normal demand — the well seems to fall behind everyday household use.
  • Runs down during heavier use — water supply drops off when demand increases.
  • Ongoing concerns about production — you’re not confident in the well’s current output.
  • Weighing your options — deciding whether hydrofracking or another solution makes sense for the property.
Blairsville & Union County

Private Well or Public Water? It Depends on the Property.

Union County’s New Resident Guide identifies the City of Blairsville, Coosa Water Authority, and Notla Water Authority as primary water providers in the area. That doesn’t mean every property is connected to one of those systems — some properties rely on individual water wells instead.

If you’re buying property or evaluating an existing home, it’s worth determining the actual water source for that specific property rather than assuming based on a Blairsville mailing address.

Need a New Well Instead? We Handle That Start to Finish.

Groundwater Pros also provides new water well drilling in Blairsville and Union County, handling the well from drilling through pump installation with our own rigs, crews, and three Georgia-licensed water well drillers. See our Water Well Drilling page for our full process.

Blairsville Well Questions

Hydrofracking uses high-pressure water inside an existing well to try to open or improve water-bearing fractures in the surrounding rock, with the goal of improving how much water reaches the well. It isn’t the right fit for every well.

No. We camera-inspect each well before treatment begins, and hydrofracking isn’t appropriate for every well — if we find a condition that means it shouldn’t proceed, we let you know before moving forward.

Yes. We camera-inspect every candidate well before deciding whether to proceed, so we understand the well’s condition first.

No. We don’t promise a specific result — hydrofracking is evaluated case by case, and results vary by well.

Yes. In addition to hydrofracking, we provide new water well drilling throughout Blairsville and Union County using our own rigs, crews, and licensed drillers.

It depends on the property. Union County identifies the City of Blairsville, Coosa Water Authority, and Notla Water Authority as primary water providers, but not every property is connected to one of those systems — some rely on individual wells.

Georgia requires private wells to be installed by a licensed water well contractor, with limited exceptions provided by law.

The Georgia EPD publishes the current list of licensed water well contractors. You can check any contractor, including Groundwater Pros, before work begins.
