Building or Buying Property in Blue Ridge?

Water service in and around Blue Ridge varies by property. The City of Blue Ridge operates a municipal water utility with an established process for requesting service, but that doesn’t mean every property with a Blue Ridge address is served by City water — availability depends on the specific property and location.

Before assuming how a property will receive water, it’s worth determining whether existing water service is available or whether a private well will be needed. If a well is needed, Georgia’s private-well requirements still apply, and eligibility depends on the individual property.

Plan the Well Before the Site Gets Locked In

Well placement, septic placement, building location, and drilling-equipment access can all affect one another — planning water early avoids surprises later. See our Water Well Drilling page for our full process, or we can talk through what a well would look like for your property.

What to Consider

  • Whether existing water service is available — worth confirming before assuming a well is needed.
  • Proposed well location relative to the home, septic, and property lines.
  • Septic tank and absorption-field location — Georgia DPH sets minimum separation distances.
  • Drilling-equipment and driveway access — a practical path for our rigs to reach the site.
  • Applicable county review — Fannin County Land Development handles subdivision and land-disturbance matters, while Fannin County Environmental Health handles septic and on-site sewage matters.

Know Who’s Drilling Your Well

Georgia requires a licensed water well contractor to construct a private well, with limited exceptions such as certain landowner household or farm wells. Before any rig arrives, it’s worth confirming who holds the license and whose crew and equipment will actually be doing the work.

Groundwater Pros is a licensed Georgia water well drilling company serving Blue Ridge and Fannin County. Our licensed drillers, crews, rigs, and drilling equipment are part of our own operation.

What Happens When Groundwater Pros Drills Your Well?

We start by walking the property with you to understand the project, then check equipment access and a practical well location on site. From there, we drill the well and keep you updated at each step.

For the full process, cost factors, and what to expect, see our Water Well Drilling page.

Ready to Build? Your Well Shouldn’t Hold Up the Project.

Long drilling backlogs can delay construction and everything that depends on getting water to the property. Groundwater Pros owns and operates our drilling equipment and has three Georgia-licensed water well drillers, giving our team the capacity to keep multiple projects moving.

Current scheduling changes as projects are completed and added, so call us to check current drilling availability for your property.

Already Have a Well That Isn’t Producing Enough?

Not every low-producing well needs a full replacement. Groundwater Pros operates two hydrofracking rigs and camera-inspects the well before treatment begins — if we find a condition that means hydrofracking shouldn’t proceed, we let you know before moving forward. It isn’t right for every well, and we don’t promise a specific result. Learn more about Hydrofracking.

Pump Installation & Service

Once your well is in, we also handle pump installation, replacement, and service for the whole system.

Well Water Filtration

If taste, staining, or water quality becomes a concern, we test the water and match filtration to what’s actually there.

Blue Ridge Well Drilling Questions

Yes. Groundwater Pros serves Blue Ridge and Fannin County from our North Georgia operation based in Talking Rock.

No. The City of Blue Ridge operates a municipal water utility, but service availability depends on the specific property. We’d recommend verifying whether public water service is available for your property before assuming a connection.

Private wells are used throughout Georgia, but whether one is appropriate for a specific property depends on applicable state and local requirements, site conditions, and available water service — we can’t promise eligibility without looking at the property.

Georgia DPH sets a minimum of 50 feet from a septic tank and 100 feet from a septic absorption field, though other well-location requirements may also apply.

Georgia requires private wells to be installed by a licensed water well contractor, with limited exceptions provided by law.

The Georgia EPD publishes the current list of licensed water well contractors. You can check any contractor, including Groundwater Pros, before work begins.

We can consider hydrofracking for an existing low-yield well before assuming a new well is needed. We camera-inspect the well before treatment begins, and if we find a condition that means hydrofracking shouldn’t proceed, we let you know before moving forward — it isn’t right for every well, and results aren’t guaranteed.
