WELL DRILLING & WATER SYSTEMS
April 2025 marks a game-changing moment for Georgia agriculture.
After more than a decade of restrictions, farmers in key parts of Georgia are now allowed to apply for new irrigation well permits tapping into the Floridan Aquifer — a move that opens the door to stronger yields, better water control, and new land development.
At Groundwater Pros, we’re proud to help Georgia farmers move fast on this opportunity with licensed well drilling and hydrofracking services built for high-demand irrigation.
Back in 2012, the Georgia Environmental Protection Division (EPD) restricted new agricultural well drilling in parts of southwest and east-central Georgia to protect groundwater supplies during an extended drought and water dispute with Florida. That restriction lasted 13 years — until now.
As of April 1, 2025, farmers in affected counties can once again apply for new agricultural irrigation permits through the Georgia EPD.
The new permit opportunity applies to landowners, farms, and operations in counties across Georgia’s Lower Flint River Basin and parts of east-central Georgia — including counties like:
Baker, Mitchell, Colquitt, Calhoun, Early, Lee
Jefferson, Glascock, Washington, Warren
And other parts of the CSRA
